Badge Description

The Bioforensics and Biodefense badge is designed to give learners exposure to the study of bioforensics and biodefense and a wide array of areas of work and research conducted at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC), which is located in Frederick, MD, on Fort Detrick. The badge features lectures given by area experts at NBACC, USAMRIID, NCI and elsewhere that cover a broad range of topics relevant to bioforensics and related areas of research.

Badge Criteria

This FOUNDATIONAL level badge is equivalent to a 3-credit, master’s-level course. A final grade of B or better is required to earn this badge.

1. Attend weekly lectures given by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on various topics relevant to bioforensics and biodefense. 2. Write 15 one-page reports documenting a personal account of the selected lectures. 3. Participate in a hands-on exercise in bioforensics analysis using data common to those used in forensics cases.
