Offered through the Ruth Whitaker Holmes School of Behavioral and Health Sciences at Hood College, the Program Planning, Management and Evaluation badge identifies population-based needs for nutrition intervention. Learners will develop programs to meet those needs and evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions using research methods, epidemiology, biostatistics, proposal writing, budget planning, project management and program evaluation.

Badge Criteria

This FOUNDATIONAL level badge is equivalent to a 3-credit, master’s-level course. A final grade of B or better is required to earn this badge.

1. Demonstrate computer skills and use nutrition informatics in the decision-making process. 2. Apply knowledge of nutritional health promotion and disease prevention for individuals, groups and populations. 3. Apply a framework to assess develop, implement and evaluate products, programs and services. 4. Select, develop and/or implement nutrition screening tools for individuals, groups or populations. 5. Utilize program planning steps to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate community and population programs. 6. Engage in legislative and regulatory activities that address community, population and global nutrition health and nutrition policy. 7. Apply principles of organization management and project management principles to achieve project goals and objectives. 8. Use effective communication, collaboration and advocacy skills.
