Badge Description
The NBC Support Component 4 badge requires participants to examine and apply the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards specific to their certificate area. Learners will use their knowledge of students to plan for and positively impact student learning effectively. This component focuses on developing and implementing assessments to guide instructional decisions and collaborating with colleagues, families and community members to meet learning needs. This badge ensures that candidates are well-prepared to meet the rigorous requirements set forth by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, ultimately enhancing their instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.

Badge Criteria
This INTERMEDIATE level badge is equivalent to a 3-credit, master's-level course. A final grade of B or better is required to earn this badge.
- Analyze and Apply Standards: Examine and apply to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in their instructional practices specific to their certificate area.
- Design and Implement Instruction: Information about individual students' strengths and needs should be used to design and implement effective instruction that promotes student learning and achievement.
- Develop and Use Assessments: Develop and implement formative and summative assessments to guide instructional decisions, using assessment data to inform teaching strategies and improve student outcomes.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate effectively with colleagues, families and community members to meet students' learning needs and create a supportive learning environment.
- Plan for Student Learning: Utilize the learner's knowledge of students to plan instructional activities that are responsive to students' diverse needs and positively impact their learning.
